Mary Jo Fabich will be retiring from the University on August 27, after 30 years of service. A reception honoring Mary Jo will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Friday, August 27, in room 116 at the Alumni Center. Members of the campus community are invited to attend.

Fabich currently serves as the Associate Director for Orientation and Transition Services in University College, where she coordinates orientation programs for new Illinois State students, including Preview for first year students and Transfer Days for transfer students. Fabich has been involved in an orientation program every summer since her freshman year of college in 1978. She also coordinates staff events in University College such as the UC retreat, and she has helped to create an open, collaborative environment in University College through her extensive training in Myers-Briggs personality assessments. As part of her role, Fabich works with virtually every department on campus, and she has been instrumental in delivering effective, welcoming, and informative programs to introduce students and families to campus as they start their journeys at Illinois State. She has also been involved with the National Orientation Directors Association (NODA) for many years and has served in various roles, including historian. She was recently chosen for a national award and is among only three orientation professionals to be honored with the NODA Circle of Excellence.
