Planning is underway for the 30th annual University Research Symposium.

The symposium, scheduled for April 1, 2022 in the Brown Ballroom, is the university-wide showcase of student scholarship, research, and creative expression sponsored by the Graduate School.

All students who are enrolled at Illinois State University in the spring and engaged in scholarly activity under the direction of a faculty mentor are eligible to register.

Registration opens December 1, 2021 and closes on February 11, 2022. A faculty mentor approved abstract is required at the time of registration.

Graduate and undergraduate students, individual or group, will have an opportunity to present their scholarly works in the form of a poster describing their topic to a general audience. Faculty mentors are welcome to host oral presentations either on the same day as the event or within a day of it. Departments and schools planning to host such an event, can contact the Symposium staff.

A new addition to the event will be E-Posters. Designed to give students not on campus the chance to participate in the Symposium, station(s) for viewing of the E-Posters or PowerPoint presentations in the Ballroom will be available during the Symposium.

See the Symposium Guidelines for additional details. An informative, step-by-step YouTube video series, “How to Create a Research Poster” is posted on the Symposium website. Feel free to contact the symposium staff at Symposium@IllinoisState.edu or at (309) 438-2583 with questions, concerns, or feedback.

Note: If capacity limitations change based on state regulations, the University Research Symposium will shift to an online format. The registration will collect information to be prepared for both scenarios.
