Illinois State alum Michael McCuskey ’70, LLD ’03, assumed his role as Illinois Legislative Inspector General. The Office of the Legislative Inspector General is responsible for investigating “complaints of violations of any law, rule, or regulation or abuse of authority or other forms of misconduct by members of the General Assembly and all state employees.”

McCuskey was chief judge in the U.S. District Court, Central District of Illinois until he retired from the bench in 2014. He was a member of the 1969 National Collegiate Athletic Association baseball championship team while a student of then Illinois State Department of Political Science. McCuskey is a 2005-2006 Hall of Fame inductee of the College of Arts and Sciences. He was a board member of the Illinois State University Alumni Association and a member of the Board of Trustees.
