Illinois State University moved up in the rankings for U.S. News & World Report’s 2023 edition of the Best Graduate Schools

Graduate programs in the College of Business and the College of Education were elevated in the national ranking, while a new program in the Mennonite College of Nursing debuted in the top 100.

The College of Education graduate program ranked at 71, compared to 80 in the 2022 rankings. The College of Business program ranked at 126, moving up from 140 in 2022. The Mennonite College of Nursing’s graduate program evolved into the new Doctor of Nursing Practice, which ranked 91 of nursing graduate programs in the nation.

“While rankings such as these are not our main lens to view the success of a program, it is fulfilling to know that Illinois State’s reputation of excellence is known on a national level,” said Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost Aondover Tarhule.

U.S. News ranks programs based on expert opinions about program excellence and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school’s faculty, research, and students. The data for the rankings comes from statistical surveys of more than 2,150 programs and from reputation surveys sent to more than 23,200 academics and professionals, conducted in fall 2021 and early 2022.
