Every year in the spring, the Department of Politics and Government recognizes the accomplishments of students and faculty with a number of different awards and scholarships. The Department is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2022 scholarships and awards, all of whom have demonstrated excellence in their academic or service pursuits. As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Department will not be hosting the annual awards banquet this spring but will continue recognizing and celebrating student and faculty accomplishments.

Top honors to students include the Hibbert R. Roberts Outstanding Senior Award, which went to Michelle Calabrese; the Alice Ebel Outstanding Graduating Senior Award, which went to Avery Spranger; and the Outstanding Graduate Student Award, which went to Grace Burgener. A full list of scholarships and awards as well as past winners can be found on the department website. Award winners are also featured on our Facebook page!

Dr. Michael Hendricks is the recipient of the 2021-22 Hibbert R. Roberts Teaching Excellence Recognition Award and Dr. LJ Zigerell is the recipient of the Pi Sigma Alpha Excellence in Teaching Award.

The Department would like to thank the many donors whose generosity and commitment to student success make these awards possible. The Department of Politics and Government is grateful for their support, without which recognizing student accomplishments and academic excellence would not be possible to the same extent.
