Homecoming 2022 will be here soon (October 10-16), and Illinois State’s campus is starting to plan for the festivities.

Faculty and staff have several opportunities to get involved and share in this year’s theme, Celebrating Red, as campus shows the pride behind the University’s main color.  There’s no need to wait. Get involved and get in the Homecoming spirit with the programs below:

Campus decorating contest

Campus offices and departments can register for the campus decorating contest to promote Redbird pride and show off Homecoming spirit! Entrants will be judged on their use of the 2022 Homecoming theme, school spirit, Illinois State University’s name and/or images, and the impact of the decorations throughout the week. Judging will be Friday, October 7.

Homecoming royalty nominations

Homecoming also is a time for all to make nominations for Homecoming royalty. Faculty and staff can nominate individuals for the alumni king and queen (July 25) or, if they are Redbird alumni, their own children/grandchildren as prince and princess (deadline August 19). All nomination forms and criteria are available on the Homecoming royalty webpage.

Homecoming parade

Departments or offices wishing to participate in the Homecoming parade Saturday, October 15, can submit registrations online until October 3. Involvement in the parade can be an excellent team-building activity for staff and faculty designing floats together and encourages community involvement. Here’s a short tutorial for those float-builders out there:
