The Civil Service Council will feature a civil service employee at Illinois State University each month to highlight an exceptional colleague and the outstanding work being done on campus! This month get a chance to learn about and applaud Dani Schroeder from University Marketing and Communications.

What is your position on campus and how long have you been with the University?

I am the assistant director for trademark licensing and project communications in University Marketing and Communications. I was a graduate assistant in Athletics from 2012-2014 and have been in UMC since 2015.

What do you find most rewarding about your work?

I love the work we get to do in UMC as we help our campus partners share the amazing stories of Illinois State and what it means to be a Redbird. I also love engaging in cross-campus collaboration and getting to work with folks from all different academic areas or units. But I think the most rewarding part of my role is the opportunity to promote the University at the local, regional, and national levels through our licensed merchandise and corresponding marketing efforts.

What are your hobbies or favorite past-time?

I have three small children, so most of my time is spent playing with them! But I love to read, play sports like basketball and pickleball when I can, travel to see family and friends, or bake with my kids.

What else would you like others to know about you or your time at ISU?

Illinois State University has given me so much and provided me so much opportunity to grow personally and professionally and I feel very lucky to be a Redbird and to get to represent our institution through my work.
