Are you a dog person, or someone who loves dogs?

Stress is one of the top impediments to academic success. Research shows that just a few minutes of petting a dog can decrease cortisol, the stress hormone. This lowers your blood pressure and helps you feel relaxed, which will allow you to focus more on studying and academic projects.

PAWSitively Stress-Free events are designed to encourage students, faculty, and staff to take a break from stress and spend some time:

  • Petting certified therapy dogs, courtesy of Town & Country Kennel Club
  • Coloring pictures
  • Engaging in other stress-relieving activities such as free chair massages during finals week

The PAWSitively Stress-Free event will be held on the Third Floor of Milner Library from 2- 4 p.m.

December 12 & 13

Let the staff at Health Promotion and Wellness help you find additional stress management resources. For more information, call (309) 438-WELL (9355), email Wellness@IllinoisState.edu, or stop by 187 McCormick Hall.
