Illinois State University faculty, students, and staff now have access to 2,300 additional journals from the academic publisher Elsevier. Comprising Elsevier’s Freedom Collection, the added titles cover a variety of subjects, including mathematics, business, computer science, chemistry, biology, psychology, physics, and more.

Journals in the Freedom Collection can be accessed on Elsevier’s Science Direct platform, one of over 300 databases provided by Milner Library.

“Scholars in the College of Applied Science and Technology will benefit from access to the Elsevier Freedom Collection through this agreement,” said College of Applied Science and Technology Dean Dr. Todd McLoda. “Our faculty will appreciate the immediate access to the titles.”

The three-year agreement, which began in January 2023 and ends December 2025, provides read access to Freedom Collection titles for the previous five years (initially, back to 2019) at a discounted rate.

A full list of Freedom Collection titles is available online. Adding the Freedom Collection access to the library’s existing subscriptions and the publisher’s Open Access titles brings the total number of journals available from Elsevier to 4,700.
