University Housing Services is excited to announce Ella Sharp and Kati Fuchs as our recent recipients of the Janice A. Auguston Scholarship and Garrett Van Ausdall Scholarship awards. These scholarships are awarded yearly and aim to highlight exceptional students within University Housing who go above and beyond in demonstrating character and academic achievement.

“From the moment I stepped foot on campus as a freshman, I eagerly immersed myself in a variety of student organizations,” said Sharp, the recipient of the Janice A. Auguston Scholarship.

Sharp is a Resident Assistant (RA) for Manchester Hall, Vice President of Marketing for Alpha Kappa Psi, and the Technical Director for Redbird Productions. Eagerly immersing herself in campus life, Sharp balances a variety of extracurricular activities while still being actively involved in leadership opportunities. “I hope to be a figure others can look up to as I continue my position as an RA, as well as in other positions I have across campus.”

With an award of no less than $350, these scholarships help to ease the financial challenges students may face while living on campus. Applications for the Janice A. Auguston Scholarship and Garrett Van Ausdall Scholarship typically open in the spring with the winners being selected in April.

“Advocating for those around me and listening to what is in their heart has always been something that I want to provide,” said Fuchs, recipient of the Garrett Van Ausdall Scholarship award. Fuchs has had experience as the Vice President and Sustainability Chair for the Hewett-Manchester Diversity Coalition and is currently a Resident Assistant in Manchester Hall.
