A workgroup formed in the Division of Academic Affairs is focusing on five areas identified as priorities for staff success: job responsibilities, work-life balance, job performance/evaluation feedback, recognition, and compensation. Over the next year, the group will establish a series of recommendations for implementation through the Office of the Provost.

Current members of the group include:

  • Tamekia Bailey, Program Director, Applied Science and Technology
  • Eric Boerngen, Coordinator of Research Graduate Programs, Research and Sponsored Programs
  • Corey Burgess, Program Coordinator, University College
  • Chelley Jackson, Associate Director, Financial Aid
  • Stacy Ramsey, University Registrar and Director of Veterans and Military Services
  • Ryan Smith, Director, University Assessment
  • Heidi Verticchio, Director, Speech and Hearing Clinic
  • Wouter Van Alebeek, Interim Director of Academic Programs, Office of International Engagement

The group’s efforts are based on a survey of all University staff conducted in 2022. The overall response rate was approximately 57%, with strong representation from all areas. The survey included questions that gauged staff sentiment on job satisfaction, performance and feedback, department engagement, work climate, workload, professional development, employee recognition, overall satisfaction, remote work, and future employment plans. The results of the survey are available online.
