Since 1971, the State Universities Annuitants Association (SUAA) has been the fighting voice for active and retired public university and community college employees in Illinois.
A major crisis was averted six years ago when the Illinois General Assembly enacted legislation that would have significantly scaled back our pension and health care benefits. SUAA fought these unconstitutional provisions all the way to the Illinois Supreme Court—and won that decision when the Supreme Court ruled that those changes would be unconstitutional.
SUAA martialed a variety of resources which assisted in creating the win for all of us. It is your support of SUAA that enables the association to create the resources to protect our benefits. SUAA is on the frontlines fighting to preserve the pension rights of active, future, and retired employees as well as their spouses and survivors.
