Illinois State University raised a record $44.5 million in private support during fiscal year 2025, reflecting the strength of its mission, the trust of its community, and commitment to students, academic excellence, and long-term impact. More than 13,500 donors, including alumni, parents, faculty, staff, friends, and organizations, contributed to students and programs.
“This is a level of success never before seen in our proud 168-year history,” said Illinois State University President Aondover Tarhule. “Together, we are building a university that delivers on its promise to students, to Illinois, and to the future. We are deeply grateful to donors and friends who make this possible and believe in our capabilities. Our momentum and donor confidence are strong, and we are excited to do more.”
The 2025 milestone surpasses the previous record of $37.3 million set in 2019. It also marks the fifth time in the past decade that Illinois State has secured more than $30 million in a single year and the fifth consecutive year of year-over-year growth in private support.
“This achievement reflects the loyalty and generosity of Redbird supporters,” said Dan Kelley ’70, chair of the Illinois State University Foundation Board. “Year after year, they step forward because they believe in Illinois State and its impact.”
This record year is part of a broader effort to bring Excellence by Design, the University’s strategic plan, to reality. Gifts are expanding access, strengthening academic distinction, and helping meet the workforce needs of Illinois and beyond.
Private support success extended across campus, with highlights including:
