Illinois State University is awarding the following individuals with doctoral degrees:
Julie Nelson of Princeton, Ill., received an Ed.D. in Teaching and Learning. Daughter of the late Brian and Dorothy of England and wife of Aaron Nelson of Princeton, Ill., she is the principal of Henry-Senachwine Grade/Junior High School in Henry, Ill. Nelson earned a master’s degree in special education from Illinois State.
Joshua Olsen of Bloomington, Ill., received a doctorate in education in educational administration and foundations. Son of Robert and Paula Olsen of Prophetstown, Ill., and husband of Cora Olsen of Bloomington, Ill., he is an assistant superintendent of the Olympia School District in Stanford, Ill. Olsen earned a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Illinois State.
Jonathan Williams of Durham, N.C., received a Ph.D. in Biology. The son of James and Margie Williams of Quincy, Ill., and husband of Samantha Williams of Durham, N.C., he is currently a graduate research assistant at Illinois State University. Williams is a member of the Phi Sigma Biological Society and Athens FC. He will continue at Duke University in Durham, N.C. as a postdoctoral scholar after graduation.
Susan Woollen of Normal, Ill., received her Ph.D. in educational administration and foundations. Daughter of Herbert and the late Chiyono Hamer of San Antonio, Texas, and wife of Tim Woollen of Normal, Ill., she is the director of Undergraduate Studies and Enrollment at Illinois State. Woollen earned a bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio.
