For the past six years, the Civil Service Council and Illinois State University have partnered with Toys for Tots of McLean County. Each year, this holiday effort helps provide toys to over 6,000 underprivileged children in Bloomington/Normal and throughout McLean County.  The Civil Service Council greatly appreciates the kind efforts of Civil Service and all university employees who are able to drop off one or more new, unwrapped toys to one of the six drop box locations around campus:

  • Office of the Registrar
  • Alumni Center
  • Nelson Smith
  • Uptown Crossing
  • The third floor of DeGarmo Hall
  • Milner Library break room

The Toys for Tots campaign will run from Saturday, November 11, through Tuesday, December 19.  At that date, all toys will be collected for distribution in the community.

About Toys for Tots
McLean County Toys for Tots was affiliated with the drive based with the “Charlie Company” Marine Reserve Unit in Peoria. In McLean County, that effort was run by a group of dedicated volunteers made up of local businesses and retired Marines. Prior to the Christmas holiday in 2000, that McLean County drive group applied to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to become an independent campaign or Local Community Organization. That designation was granted, and the McLean County Toys for Tots has worked to make sure children in need in our community would have a brighter Christmas ever since.
