Welcome to the first issue of Management Matters!–the newsletter of the Department of Management and Quantitative Methods (MQM). The newsletter is being made available to you as an alumnus who majored in one of the department’s majors and to other interested partners who contribute to our success. We invite you to take a moment to browse the inspiring stories selected for this issue.

In this first issue, you can read about:

1. The launch of International Business Day, as alumni returned to ISU to celebrate 35 years of awarding degrees to more than 1,000 International Business alumni.
2. The very first issue of “Leadership Insights,” the official newsletter of the Organizational Leadership Institute, serving one of the growing majors in our department and the greater business community
3. The First Place Winner in the Means Center for Entrepreneurial Studies Startup Showcase competition, Kameron Carpenter, and his amazing invention of the Bow Lap Strap.

We hope you will enjoy this first issue of the newsletter. The opportunities before us in the department are great right now, and we want to stay connected with you–our esteemed alumni who continue to contribute to their organizations, the business community, and our department. Our students are some of the best in the state, and with your help, we will continue to develop cutting-edge capabilities to prepare and launch them toward a rewarding career.
