REPORTED OFFENSE:

On Friday, April 17th, at approximately 3:23 AM, a student reported to Normal Police he was battered somewhere between the 700 block of South University Street and the 300 block of North University Street by three unknown male suspects.  At approximately 4:51 AM, another student reported being assaulted at the intersection of Fell Street and College Avenue by two unknown male suspects. It is unknown if these incidents are related.

The suspects in these cases were described as college age Caucasian males. The two suspects in the second incident were reported to be wearing t-shirts and shorts.

These incidents remain under investigation by the Normal Police Department. Anyone with information should contact the Normal Police at (309) 454-9535. Students and others are strongly encouraged to immediately report ANY suspicious activity to the police.

-Stay alert to your surroundings and the people around you. Avoid wearing headphones, talking or texting on your cell phone, or anything which can distract you, including the excessive consumption of alcohol.

-Travel in groups and avoid going out alone at night.

 

-Plan the safest route to your destination; choose well lighted, busy pathways and streets.

 

-If someone is bothering or harassing you, tell the person in a loud voice to STAY AWAY.

 

-Carry your cell phone with you and be prepared to call 911 with a suspect description.

 

-If you are a victim or witness, call the police immediately and try to remember as many details as possible.
