CRIME ADVISORY

ILLINOIS STATE UNIVERSITY POLICE

REPORTED OFFENSE:

On 9/16/21 at 12:41pm, University Police received a call that an adult male non-student was on campus talking to himself in a manner that was concerning to others.

Officers and paramedics met with the individual of concern, but determined he was not a danger to himself or others.  However, he was provided referrals to local social services to which he refused.  Because this individual’s behavior was disruptive to the campus environment, the officer issued him a 24-hour no-trespass notice and escorted him off campus.

At approximately 3:45pm, a second concerned caller reported an adult male matching the first description on campus property again causing a disturbance.  University Police, with the assistance of Normal Police, located the suspect after he trespassed at the Flats Apartments off campus. The suspect was arrested and transported to the hospital for further evaluation.

This is an isolated incident not believed to have any relationship to the concerns of earlier this week. Normal Police continues to investigate those reports and encourages anyone with first-hand information to call 309-454-9535.
