Hello Student Affairs Alumni and Friends,

As we wrap-up a successful 2016-2017 academic year, I reflect on my first year as a Redbird and what an incredible year it has been. I am excited about our future projects and thankful for the foundation many of you have laid for us to build on. While the school year is done, there are many great initiatives still happening within Student Affairs. I am excited to share the Division’s first crowd-funding Hatch campaign, College2Career Kits (hyperlink https://hatch.illinoisstate.edu/project/6435), led by the Career Center, is 40 percent to goal. This initiative is just one way we help to prepare our students to be at their best when interviewing for a job. We also recently dedicated Redbird Plaza, a space for all Redbirds, where memories are made, friendships strengthened, and traditions built. It is a must-see the next time you’re on campus! We continue to celebrate the success of our incredible alumni! We recognized some of our newest alumni during four cultural graduation celebrations in May. During the Steve and Sandi Adams Legacy Hall of Fame induction ceremony, we inducted five new members. In addition, we launched the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of LeaderShape® at Illinois State and the alums who were integral to the success of this program through the years.  We also learned of alumni who are bringing Alternative Breaks-like experiences to Chicago high school students and welcomed the class of 2017 into the alumni family. Our history is rich and our alumni make me so proud.  As always, I encourage you learn more about what is happening within the Division of Student Affairs and at Illinois State by following our social media pages (hyperlink https://www.facebook.com/StudentAffairsISU), reading our newsletter each quarter, and returning to campus to visit us whenever you have the chance. The Student Affairs Alumni and Friends Newsletter is an opportunity for both our alumni and supporters to keep up-to-date on news within the Division of Student Affairs. Student Affairs alumni are unique and not easily defined. While they didn't technically graduate from the Division of Student Affairs, they did have an impactful experience in one or more of the twelve departments of the Division as a student. From being a RA, to Alternative Breaks participants, to campus dining staff, to sports club members, they are alumni of Student Affairs and our supporters help these programs continue to thrive. So let's connect! Share your stories, keep in touch, and remember you are all part of the Student Affairs family.
