A recently released study by the Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools (IARSS) indicates that 55 percent of northeast Illinois school districts that responded to the 2020 Illinois Educator Shortage Study believe there is a teacher shortage and 72 percent believe the substitute teacher shortage is worse.
