Wellness Coaching offers a holistic approach to examining how personal wellness interacts with one’s values, goals, and inspirations. Based on positive psychology, wellness coaching focuses on the present and the future, using an individual’s own strengths to drive personal lifestyle changes guiding them toward a more well life.
The coaching relationship is a collaborative, and non-judgmental partnership that’s designed to keep individuals accountable for setting and reaching their wellness goals. Individuals are the expert in their own lives improving their coping skills, resilience, and levels of self-efficacy.
Wellness Coaching sessions are offered to students, staff, and faculty members who are interested in making positive shifts in their personal wellness. Sessions are free of charge, scheduled for 30-60 minutes in length, and carry a limit of six meetings. Balanced Bellies and Backs – Lifestyle Enhancement Program
Aimed at the care of a healthy spine, this class focuses on maintaining flexibility and strengthening the CORE.
Instructor: Michelle Klunke, BA is a certified instructor and has been teaching for Wellness at Illinois State since 2003.
Balanced Bellies and Backs: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 12:15–1 p.m. via Zoom.
Registration is required and a fee is associated to participate in this class. Fees will be processed online through the Health Promotion and Wellness uStore. Please pay for classes using the uStore link or through payroll deduction. Cash and personal checks are no longer accepted.
The program runs from January 5 through May 13, 2021.
Health Promotion and Wellness offer free individual diet analysis and nutrition guidance for those striving to improve their lifestyle. Faculty, staff, and students can meet one on one with Health Promotion and Wellness nutrition graduate assistant at no cost. Participants need to complete a 72-Hour Food Diary and a health questionnaire prior to their nutrition consult.
Being proactive is key to healthy work environments. The primary purpose of the ergonomics program is to minimize discomfort and prevent injuries associated with repetitive movements and contraindicated postures. The ergonomic review is person-centered and aims to support an individual at their workspace.
Health Promotion and Wellness offer individual and group recommendations for the office environment.
Learn more about Illinois breastfeeding laws, Illinois State University policy, and explore how to successfully return to campus as a breastfeeding mom. This is a free class open to faculty, staff, spouses/partners, and students. Facilitated by Trish Wierenga, a certified lactation consultant.
This class will be held via zoom. Trish will send a zoom link to those who have registered closer to the day of the class.
Mindfulness means paying attention to your present-moment experience, non-judgmentally. Meditation is a powerful way to practice mindfulness. When we practice mindfulness or meditation, we aren’t trying to stop our thoughts or feelings, but we are learning to be aware of them, and then let them go as we come back to what we are doing in that moment, again and again, and not thinking about it as good or bad.

Family bowling events at the Illinois State Bowling and Billiards Center will be held during the fall semester. These family events are free of charge.
Families may register for one lane and one time slot. The maximum number of family members allowed to participate will be 5. Time slots are 60-minute increments between the hours of noon and 6 p.m. on the scheduled date.
Whether you have experience with meditation or if this is something new, please join us for any of our meditation sessions. Meditation can help improve sleep; reduce stress and anxiety; improve focus, academic and work performance, and eating behaviors; and contribute to a greater sense of well-being and happiness. Each session is about 20 minutes and will be held on Zoom. No registration is required and you can start at any time.
