After arriving at Illinois State University and saying goodbye to her family, Tia Mapp began settling into her dorm room in Watterson Towers. Being a college student suddenly felt real for the first time.
Every August, new and returning students flood back to campus the week before fall semester classes begin. They are greeted by a large crew of faculty, staff, and students who volunteer to help these Redbirds move into university housing.

After 10 busy years, Sharron Evans ’93, ’97 returned to Illinois State University and joined her former Housing colleagues in celebration of Homecoming 2013. One look at her resume explains why it has been so long between visits. Evans completed her J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in May of this year and recently started a new position as the director of the student rights and responsibilities office at Northeastern Illinois University.
