Two new staff members, Jamie Sennett and Shanay Huerta, joined the Alumni Relations staff on Monday, April 17.
Sennett is an assistant director who will work with constituent groups, coordinating regional events, chapters other than Chicago ones, new chapter development, affinity clubs other than the Chicago area and Alumni Day. Huerta is an assistant director who will work with student and young alumni outreach, Homecoming reunions and career mentoring.
Sennett graduated from Illinois State University in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in commercial recreation. She previously worked as director of member services at the Employee Services Management Association in Oak Brook and worked as assistant program manager at Suzi Davis Travel in Bloomington.
“I am honored to be joining the Alumni Relations staff,” Sennett said. “As an Illinois State alum, I look forward to working with the various chapters and clubs to continue to increase the number of active alumni.”
Huerta graduated from Illinois State in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in the Family and Consumer Sciences apparel, merchandising and design sequence and in 2005 with a master’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences. While at Illinois State, Huerta organized a fashion show highlighting cultural diversity and dress in the professional working world as part of her graduate research project, worked as a graduate assistant in the Office of Intercultural Programs and Services and as a resident assistant in University Housing Services, and worked as an intern at the McLean County Museum of History.
“Illinois State has been my home away from home since 2001,” Huerta said. “I am both excited and grateful to contribute back to the university that has provided me so many life-enhancing experiences. I look forward to working with alumni and students and being a positive example for all. I hope to bring a fresh perspective to alumni programming and to keep Redbird pride alive throughout the University and beyond.”
“The Alumni Relations office is extremely fortunate to be able to add two outstanding individuals to the staff,” said Barb Todd, Alumni Relations executive director. “Collectively they bring a broad range of experiences, a level of enthusiasm, talents and skills that will play an instrumental role in leading the organization to the next level. I am confident that alumni will enjoy meeting and working with Jamie and Shanay.”
