Joe ’49, M.S ‘50 and Audrey (Brust) ’49 Naffziger have been selected by the Illinois State University Alumni Association to reign as the alumni king and queen during this year’s homecoming festivities from Oct. 13-19.
Joe is a retired actuary at State Farm, and Audrey is a retired Thomas Metcalf Laboratory School teacher. The Naffzigers are long-time supporters of Illinois State University. Audrey was the U High Homecoming queen in 1945 and was a member of the Illinois State Normal University Homecoming court her sophomore year. Joe was on the Illinois State men’s basketball team for four years.
Joe and Audrey are the parents of Bruce ’81, Dale, Janette Bruns and the late Jeanne Martens. They have nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family is proud of having four generations matriculate through Illinois State University and three generations in the laboratory schools. They endowed a scholarship in honor of their late daughter, Jeanne, for clinical laboratory science majors a few years ago.
Joe and Audrey will be crowned at the Homecoming Luncheon, which will be held on Friday, Oct. 17, in the Brown Ballroom of the Bone Student Center. Reservations are required and may be made by visiting Homecoming Luncheon.
