For FY13, the College of Education awarded scholarships to 123 education majors, totaling $312,538. Both the number of scholarships and total dollar amount awarded are the largest to date. In FY12, the COE awarded 22 more scholarships.
The financial support these scholarships provide in an era of crisis in financial aid programs is essential. However, the need is still great. More than 2,844 applications for scholarships were received in FY13, and the COE was only able to help fund 4 percent of the applicants.
The COE Scholarships program is made possible by generous donors who have chosen to invest in the next generation of educators for our state and nation. The support of these donors allows Illinois State University to educate future leaders who will take up the challenge of creating democracy in public school education.
