Illinois State alumnus Jay Blunk ’86 was inducted into the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame on Wednesday.
The Chicago Blackhawks executive vice president was among those honored at the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame’s annual ceremonies and dinner at Hawthorne Race Course.
“We are proud to welcome these distinguished men and women to the Hall. This is among the best groups ever,” Charles Carey, chairman of the Board of the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame, said in a statement in July. “The memorable careers of these legendary figures of sport deserve the grand celebration we have planned. We’re happy to welcome their fans and supporters to join us and we urge all to get their tickets early.”
Blunk, a Normal native and Normal Community High School graduate, helped lead the Blackhawks to a Stanley Cup win in 2010. The mass communication graduate was featured in Illinois State magazine in February 2011.
