Lincoln scholar Guy Fraker will talk about his latest book, Lincoln’s Ladder to the Presidency: The Eighth Judicial Circuit, at 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 1, on the main floor of Milner Library.
A book signing will follow the talk. The talk is part of the 2012 Speaker Series.
Fraker is a lifetime student of the 16th President Abraham Lincoln. Before becoming president, Lincoln once practiced law in Illinois, journeying to the 13 area counties that make up the Eighth Judicial Circuit, which includes the Bloomington area. Fraker himself has practiced law in Bloomington since 1962. He has written and lectured on Lincoln’s time as an attorney, and offered guided tours of the Circuit on the roads Lincoln himself traveled. Fraker’s talk is sponsored by Milner Library.
The Speaker Series of Illinois State University seeks to bring innovative and enlightening speakers to the campus with the aim providing the community a platform to foster dialog, cultivate enriching ideas and continue an appreciation of learning as an active and lifelong process.
