The Career Center’s Cultural Career Network Program (CCNP) prepares students for the workplace in areas of networking and career awareness. CCNP encourages students of diverse backgrounds to participate in a variety of events designed to connect them with employers, and to provide resources about available internship and career opportunities.

This past fall, approximately 50 students connected with 15 alumni for firsthand knowledge about career, interviewing, and networking experiences during the Cultural Career Network Alumni Roundtable on October 18. Alumni with successful careers in companies including Enterprise Rent-A-Car, State Farm, and Illinois State University talked with students about their successes and how to navigate the job search process. To enhance student participation in the event, student group co-sponsors included Black Student Union and Alpha Psi Lambda.

CCNP events are open to all Illinois State University students, regardless of major or college classification. The program embraces all Career Center services and programming and works in conjunction with many university departments. Local and statewide employers play an important and effective role as they participate in and co-sponsor Cultural Career Network Program activities and events. Unique networking connections and opportunities for students in today’s global society are the program goals.
