A team of four students from Illinois State University’s Katie School of Insurance and Financial Services recently took second place at the Risk and Insurance Study Center/Spencer RMI Challenge at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Senior insurance majors Erin Dullard, Bloomington; Kevin Kostyk, Naperville; Eric Mutch, Macomb; and Dan Pettie, Bloomington, received a $3,000 prize for their second place finish in the risk management competition.
Competing teams were given six weeks to prepare presentations on a complex risk management case study about the Richmond 2015 Union Cycliste Internationale, a world championship bicycle road racing event organized by Union Cycliste Internationale, sports cycling’s governing body. Student teams made presentations to a panel of risk management professionals during the competition.
A team from Temple University took first prize and received $4,000, while a team from Virginia Commonwealth University came in third and took home a $2,000 prize.
