But that’s okay by us. We at the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology have some cool workshops this week, well-worth a torrid trek across campus to our building. Plus, for those sessions which require registration, we’ve simplified the process.

Introduction to ReggieNet, Part One
Tuesday, August 27 – 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
There’s still time to register for this one-hour course! Get a proper introduction to the ReggieNet interface and learn how to organize your particular course site. Explore various tools including Gradebook, Resources and Materials, and selected communication tools. You will be able to start adding content to your course site in this workshop. And while you’re at it, sign up for next week’s Introduction to ReggieNet: Part Two workshop. Registration required.
“What do the best college teachers know about student learning?” Explore that question at the first of our Professional Development Circles for Early Career Faculty. Come on either Wednesday or Thursday. No registration is required!
These sessions are designed for those who have successfully navigated the first few years of teaching and wonder how to stay motivated and organized. These circles are open to both tenure- and non-tenure-track instructors. Sessions combine professional development activities with supportive conversations among peers. These topics are based on chapters in the award-winning book, What the Best College Teachers Do by Ken Bain. Early career faculty who attend the circles will be provided with copies the book, but there will NOT be “required” readings.
Excel: Level 1
Thursday, August 29 – 9:00 a.m. to Noon
Get a basic introduction to Microsoft Excel. Topics include features such as spreadsheet arrangement (rows, columns, and cells), entering, editing, and formatting data. Learn about formulas and graph creation. Registration required.
Join the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology and the Means Center for Entrepreneurial Studies for a webinar on how teachers can help students become independent, self-directed learners. We often find that students come to campus inexperienced in effective learning strategies. This online workshop will introduce teachers to student skills assessment and show ways to promote meaningful learning. The event is free for participants at our facility thanks to support from the Means Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. Registration is encouraged but not required.
