What’s your favorite retro Redbirds logo? Is it Thumbs-Up Reggie? What about the muscular Redbird dribbling a basketball? Or the pouty trio of Redbirds spelling out I-S-U?
Every alum has their favorite, and now the Redbird Vintage line is bringing them back to life.
The Redbird Vintage line, which launched this past summer, features a growing collection of new apparel, replica sportswear, collectibles and gifts—all with retro logos. The Redbird Vintage collection is made and sold by many of the leaders in the collegiate and pro-sports throwback gear industry:
- Homage: T-shirts for men, women, and kids; baby one-piece; winter hat
- RedbirdGear.com: Full collection of Illinois State merchandise, including clothing with vintage logos
- Ebbets Field Flannels: Replica baseball jersey and caps from the 1960s Redbird teams
- WinCraft: Flags, signs, pennants, including with retro logos
To get in the mood for vintage, STATEside teamed up with the Dr. Jo Ann Rayfield Archives to find some classic photos (11 to be precise) of Illinois State students sporting retro gear—back when it wasn’t retro. Enjoy!
