Ever find yourself wondering, what exactly it is students are doing on Pinterest? It’s just a Web page filled with pictures of things they like, right? Well, to some extent yes, we do appreciate adorable pictures of puppies or a great recipe for cheese empanadas. But did you know that Pinterest is not just for fluffy animals and incredible eats? Believe it or not, Pinterest can help educators, like you, connect to students, think up new and creative lesson plans, provide educational literature, and so much more.
At the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology (CTLT), we’ve created a Pinterest page designed with the educator in mind. You can browse boards like Books Worth Reading, where the CTLT staff has recommended their favorites, or Teaching Through Technology and Civic Engagement, which are full of helpful articles and information on how to effectively engage students, both in the classroom and out. Plus, the CTLT staff posts regular updates, so you’ll never have to worry about keeping up with the Joneses on the latest teaching and learning tips and tricks. What’s not to “Like”?
We strive to always support educators in their pursuit of excellence and innovation, and with this in mind, we would love to hear from you! Got a suggestion for the Pinterest page? Helpful articles, links, or anything aimed at expanding teaching and learning are welcome. Just send a suggestion to any of our CTLT staff members or email us directly at CTLT@IllinoisState.edu.
