Associate Professor Somnath Lahiri from the Department of Management and Quantitative Methods is the recipient of the 2013-2014 College of Business Outstanding Researcher award.
Since joining Illinois State in 2007, Lahiri has published 17 journal articles and presented 18 conference papers. Many of Lahiri’s publications are in the top journals in his field. His research interests include international business and management with particular focus on emerging economies.
Lahiri received his Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Memphis in 2007. Upon coming to Illinois State University, Lahiri has taught several courses including Advanced Organizational Strategy, Organizational Strategy, International Management, Introduction to International Business, Competing in Emerging Markets, and Business Organization and Management. Prior to his doctoral education, he served as a professional engineer for several years in India primarily in central government organizations.
Lahiri has made several regional, national and international conference presentations and his works have appeared (or have been accepted for publication) in Asia-Pacific Journal of Management, Business Horizons, European Business Review, European Management Journal, International Business Review, Journal of International Management, Journal of World Business, Management International Review, R&D Management and Thunderbird International Business Review among several others. He has also co-authored a book chapter on emerging economies.
Lahiri has received the Illinois State University Research Initiative Award and the Best Reviewer Award of the Academy of International Business. He has also been a co-recipient of the Best Paper Award in Emerging Economies Track of the Academy of International Business. Lahiri serves on the Editorial Board of Journal of International Management and the Editorial Review Board of Journal of World Business.
