For the 11th year running, Athletics will host the Taste of Redbirds event in Horton Field House prior to the Illinois State-Drake men’s basketball game Saturday, February 1, at Redbird Arena.
This year’s Taste of Redbirds will be held from 12:30-2:30 p.m., prior to the 3:05 p.m. tipoff between the Redbirds and Bulldogs on Retro Day. Illinois State’s men’s team will be wearing replica I-State uniforms, similar to the uniforms worn by the 1973-1974 squad.
Admission to the Taste of Redbirds is free, but tickets for food and beverages (while supplies last) will be available for purchase at Redbird Arena during upcoming men’s and women’s basketball games as well as at the event. Proceeds will benefit the Weisbecker Scholarship Fund.
Participating local vendors include Alexander’s Steakhouse, Avanti’s, Bandanas BBQ, Beer Nuts, Benchwarmer’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Denny’s Doughnuts and Bakery, D. P. Dough, Famous Dave’s, Joe’s Station House, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Reality Bites, Schlotzky’s Deli and Times Past Inn, with more to be announced prior to the event.
In addition, Reggie’s Fun Zone will be accessible in Horton Field House, including inflatables provided by Fun on the Run and a climbing wall provided by Upper Limits. The Zoo Lady will also be in attendance to paint faces for kids at the event and the The Alamo II will be on hand with Redbird merchandise for sale. The Illinois State pep band will cap off the event with a performance just prior to 2:30 p.m.
