More than 200 faculty and students from 11 universities across the Midwest attended Illinois State University’s Sport Management Symposium on February 21 at Uptown Normal’s Marriott Hotel.
The 4th annual symposium was organized by sport management graduate students Erin Brown, Maggie Ahern, and Dani Kabbes. The event featured keynote speaker Steve Delay, co-author of The Ultimate Toolkit to Set the Last Seat in the House; and guests Todd Fischer, GMR; Brian Bowsher, University of Miami; Erin Harvego, Big Ten Network; Jorie Sax, Miller Coors/WISE; Justin Reckamp, State Farm Insurance; Lisa Boaz, St. Louis Rams; Mike Ernst, Chicago Fire; and Vince Cicero, Western & Southern Open.
The event was emceed by Lance Lippert, associate professor in the School of Communication, and streamed live on the Web by the Sports Business Education Network. The symposium also utilized an active social media account that allowed attendees to make comments and ask questions through Twitter.
