Celebrate National Walking Day with Health Promotion and Wellness and the American Heart Association Wednesday, April 2, at noon on the Quad.
Physical inactivity is a huge national problem. In fact, 70 percent of Americans don’t get enough exercise, which means they are at a great risk for heart disease, stroke, and other blood vessel disease. Heart disease remains the No. 1 killer of men and women in the United States.
But we’re not going to take it sitting down! On April 2 students, faculty, and staff will lace up their sneakers and join millions of people across the U.S. as they pledge to live a healthier lifestyle and love their heart.
The first 100 walkers to complete the inner loop of the Quad will get a free sandwich from Subway. All attendees can enter to win prizes, including a gift card from Subway. Heart health information and other wellness resources will be available from various campus and local organizations. A photo booth and health pledges will also be available. In case of inclement weather, this event will take place on the concourse level of Redbird Arena.
