Theodore Branoff has been named the new chairperson of the Department of Technology. Branoff began his duties July 1.
Branoff earned his B.S. in technical education in 1985 from North Carolina State University (NCSU), his M.S. in occupational education in 1989 from NCSU, and his Ph.D. in 1998 in curriculum and instruction from NCSU.
Branoff taught undergraduate courses at NCSU in Foundations of Graphics, Three-Dimensional Space Relations, Applied CAD and Geometric Controls, and Advanced CAD. He taught graduate courses in Foundations for Teaching Technical and Technology Education and Instructional Design in Technical and Technology Education.
Branoff’s research interests include spatial visualization in undergraduate students, and online instruction. He has published journal articles in various outlets including Engineering Design Graphics Journal, Journal of Geometry and Graphics, Journal of STEM Teach Education and Advances in Engineering Education.
He is a member of the Engineering Design Graphics Division of the American Society for Engineering Education, the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association, the International Society for Geometry and Graphics, the Association for Career & Technical Education and Epsilon Pi Tau. Branoff is the immediate past president of the International Society for Geometry and Graphics.
In June 2013, Branoff was elected into the ASEE Academy of Fellows, and in June 2014 he received the Distinguished Service Award of the Engineering Design Graphics Division of the American Society for Engineering Education.
