College application season is upon us, and you’re probably preparing for all of those applications like it’s your job. Well, the good news is the job of applying to Illinois State is quick and easy!

The application will be available online starting September 1, so grab these five items and get ready to go:

1. Unofficial transcript. You’ll need to indicate your number of semesters in math, science, English and foreign languages/fine arts.

2. ACT or SAT scores. Know both your composite and subscores.

3. Social security number.

4. Personal statement (optional). If you want to tell us anything about your academic performance that we can’t get from your test scores and GPA.

5. Method of payment for $50 application fee. (Your high school counselor may request a fee waiver due to economic hardship.)

Self-report your info

As an added convenience, students applying to most programs will not need to submit official transcripts or test scores to complete the application or to receive an admission decision.

Apply early

Apply by November 15 to be most competitive for admission and merit-based scholarships—and to receive your admission decision by December 31. You’ll automatically be invited to apply for merit-based scholarships if you meet the academic requirements.

Consider a personal statement

Most admitted students have ACT scores between 22–26, SAT scores between 1030–1190, and GPAs from 3.08–3.82. If you fall in the lower end of any of these ranges, we recommend that you submit a personal statement with your application. Tell us anything about your individual situation that you’d like us to consider as we review your application. Learn more about the personal statement from one of our senior admissions counselors.
