The Illinois State soccer team will play under the lights for the first time at Adelaide Street Field on October 30, when the Redbirds host Idaho. Over the past month six light poles have been installed along with a new and improved scoreboard at Adelaide Street Field.

All of these additions are in preparation for the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, which will be hosted by Illinois State for the first time in tournament history. The reason the Redbirds haven’t hosted the tournament before is because of the absence of those lights. For a school to host the tournament it must have lights installed at its field.

The Redbirds have excelled in the tournament in recent history, winning the last three tournaments. Now they will get the opportunity to become the second team in MVC history to win the tournament four years in a row, and this year the Redbirds will play in front of their home crowd. The only other team to accomplish the four-peat was Evansville from 1996-99.

The MVC tournament will be held at Adelaide Street field from November 7–9.
