Deedra Alford ’10, who is in her third year in the Doctor of Audiology program at Illinois State University, has been accepted to a prestigious placement for her fourth year externship, which will begin this summer.
Alford was chosen as an audiology trainee with the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Training Program of the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) at the Waisman Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Alford will gain experiences in leadership development, core knowledge of neurodevelopmental disabilities, and public health systems. She will also be researching alongside world-renowned faculty. Furthermore, Alford will be gaining clinical experiences in audiology at both the American Family Children’s Hospital and the Waisman Center where she will be working with highly trained professionals where she will have the opportunity to evaluate special populations and communicate findings and recommendations to team members from other disciplines.
“I am looking forward to so much, but most of all the dynamic learning environment and the exposure and experience I will receive in working with such a diverse patient population,” Alford said.
We congratulate Deedra on her hard work and wish her continued success!
