Artist Kristina Estell will speak from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, as a guest lecturer at the University Galleries.
Estell is a visual artist who has exhibits nationally and internationally, and has attended artist residencies within and outside of the US. In 2009, she was awarded a full scholarship from the Pilchuck School of Glass in Seattle and has been a recipient of grant funding from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council /McKnight Foundation.
In 2010, she was selected by artist Dan Graham to receive a Visual Arts Fellowship at the Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart, Germany, for a residency. Currently, her work involves creating a series of sculptural projects that record elements of natural and architectural objects, surfaces and spaces using the specialized material of silicone molding rubber.
