The Dean of Students Office February Student Spotlight is Rebecca Mathis, a senior health education major.
After participating in the Alternative Breaks program, Mathis learned more about the Dean of Students Office through Leadership and Community Connections. Her involvement with that office has helped her “meet motivating role models, build relationships, and feel a greater sense of connectedness to campus.”
By holding executive positions through Alternative Breaks, Mathis was pushed out of her comfort zone. These positions helped her gain more confidence, become passionate about service, and taught her the importance of working with others.
Mathis recommends for students to take advantage of the valuable resources available on campus, particularly the Dean of Students Office. It offers “great access to different opportunities and is a place to go if you have questions.”
