Lorena Lopez is April’s Dean of Students Office Student Spotlight. She is a senior social work major and has been very involved through the Dean of Students Office. She has participated in Alternative Breaks, served as a Welcome Week intern, volunteered at various Leadership and Community Connections programs, and is currently the enrichment chairperson for the University Program Board.
Staying involved keeps her motivated and has given her a lot of experience.
“I’ve grown and developed as a leader through my involvement and have learned responsibility, time management, and communication skills,” she said. “I’ve learned to have the mentality that everything won’t go as planned, so be flexible and accepting of change.”
If Lopez ever had any questions, she knew she could receive assistance from the Dean of Students Office.
“Communication with the Dean of Students Office staff is the reason I’ve stayed involved on campus,” she said. “They have so many resources that help you stay involved and assist you along the way.”
