A new turnstile security system will be installed at the Illinois State University Foundation’s Chicago Office located at 150 North Michigan Avenue, by October 1, 2015. If you have an access card, you will not be affected significantly by the changes; scan your card at the turnstile in the lobby to gain access to the elevators.
Faculty, staff, alumni, and other guests who plan to visit the Chicago Office will need to give advance notice of their visit. Visitors should call the Chicago Office at (309) 438-3500 to let staff know of visits so they can contact building security. All visitors that have called ahead will check in with building security to pick up a temporary pass with a bar code that will be scanned at the turnstile to enter the elevator.
Unscheduled visitors, such as alumni who “drop in,” will be stopped at the security desk in the lobby. Security will then call the Chicago Office to obtain permission from the staff to allow visitors access to the office. If someone from the staff is unavailable, unscheduled visitors will not be allowed access.
This is a change in security protocol for the Crain Communications Building. This change was brought about due to concerns related to the safety of those working daily in the building.
