The Business Week students at the College of Business will host “Movie Talk: Breaking Down Gender Barriers in the Workplace” from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, at the Normal Theater.
The film The Devil Wears Prada will be featured, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A involving male and female working professionals in the Bloomington-Normal area. The discussion will focus on different perspectives regarding Hollywood’s portrayal of women in the workplace at the time the featured film was produced and how roles have changed for the current time.
This event is to act as a precursor to a larger event, featuring a keynote speaker, to be held Friday, February 26. Both events will focus on the changing roles of women in the workplace, gender diversity, and inclusion. Not to be confused with gender inequality, the talk will focus on how the gap in gender diversity has closed over the years but is open to the interpretation of each viewer.
This event is casual attire, and is free and open to the public with no registration required. Concessions will be available.
