On October 15, the Department of Technology hosted the 58th annual Illinois Drafting Educators Association (IDEA) Conference. Drafting teachers from across Illinois attended the fall meeting and workshops.
Founded in 1957, IDEA is a not-for-profit, professional education organization that advances the drafting occupation through better education. The annual fall meeting and conference included six professional development sessions. In the spring, the IDEA has a student drafting competition at Illinois State University.
Jordyn Imana, a technology student, received the Ryan K. Brown IDEA Scholarship this year. She was presented with a plaque during the meeting. The scholarship was established in honor of Ryan K. Brown, a retired Department of Technology drafting/CAD instructor and active member of IDEA.
