The 12th annual Redbird Fan Fair will take place Saturday, August 20, on the Illinois State campus, where patrons will have the opportunity to enjoy the Redbird volleyball scrimmage, football scrimmage, carnival games, and music.
The volleyball scrimmage will start at 1 p.m. in Redbird Arena, with Fan Fair to follow on the concourse at Hancock Stadium at 2:30 p.m. Fans can then head to the stand to watch the Redbird football team scrimmage on the turf beginning at 4 p.m. The event, which is free to the public, is the official kickoff of the 2016 fall athletics season. Free parking will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis in lots surrounding Hancock Stadium and Redbird Arena.
The first 500 Reggie’s Kids Club members in attendance to check in at the table will receive a free official Reggie’s Kids Club T-shirt.
Student-athletes and coaches from Illinois State’s 19 varsity sports teams will be on hand at the Fan Fair, assisting in the various games. They will interact with the fans and will be signing autographs on a limited basis. Additional activities include inflatable games provided by Fun on the Run and a climbing wall provided by Upper Limits.
Also a part of this year’s festivities is the annual Spirit Photo, in which new students have the opportunity to take a photo on the field at Hancock Stadium with members of the Big Red Marching Machine, the Illinois State cheerleaders, and Reggie Redbird. The photo will be taken at 3 p.m., and students are encouraged to stick around for the football scrimmage at 4 p.m.
