From the trapeze performers who once called Bloomington home, to the mysteries surrounding the electoral college, Illinois State University’s Senior Professionals program will explore a wealth of topics with the Fall 2016 Academy of Seniors, Mornings with the Professors, and Classroom Journey bus trip.
A complete list of classes, times, locations, and costs can be found at www.seniorprofessionals.illinoisstate.edu.
Academy of Seniors is a series of talks dedicated to “Work and Play in McLean County,” that will look at baseball teams, transportation, farming, and Bloomington as the “Trapeze Capital of the World” with the Flying Valentinos. Future talks will focus on the 2016 election, learning to be tech savvy, and British literature.
Mornings with the Professors will begin Friday, September 30, with a “tour” of local birds who live in the area. Future talks will include a discussion of jazz at Jazz Upfront, an exploration of what makes us human, German history, and a look at Hitler.
This semester’s Classroom Journey Bus Trip will travel to Jacksonville, Illinois, to understand the Underground Railroad, led by Ronald Gifford, history faculty member at Illinois State.
