Illinois State University’s Mennonite College of Nursing (MCN) held its annual Scholarship and Awards Banquet on September 22 in the Brown Ballroom at the Bone Student Center. The college received nearly 250 applications for scholarships for the 2016–2017 academic year, and awarded 93 scholarships and awards.
The purpose of this event is to invite donors to meet with their student recipients, and then the college recognizes new scholarships that have been established. Each recipient also receives a certificate for the scholarship they received.
MCN is grateful for all of the scholarships and awards that have been established to help deserving students, who would not be able to attend the University without the help of need-based scholarships.
This year, five new scholarships were established:
- Ralph and Louise Bellas Endowment for International Transcultural Nursing
- Chad Guenther Scholarship
- Heritage Geriatric Nursing Scholarship
- Ruth Ryder Senior Geriatrics Award
- Watkins-Lamb Student Leadership Scholarship
