The Students’ Attorney, Ed McKibbin, is a licensed attorney who offers free expert advice and guidance to students in legal situations. The Students’ Attorney can help students with landlord and tenant issues, credit concerns, ordinance violations, criminal matters, wills, power of attorney, personal injury, contracts, domestic or family issues, and general legal advice.
McKibbin wants students to know they can visit him about any concern: “The office of the Students’ Attorney provides students with an opportunity to be proactive from the standpoint of preventing future problems, but if a student is already confronted with a problem, we attempt to help solve the problem.”
McKibbin counsels and advises students from 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. on weekdays. His favorite part of his position is seeing the personal growth and development in the students who visit him. McKibbin hopes he is able to positively impact lives and that Illinois State students take advantage of the learning experience.
